All of This Crawling is Wearing Him Out!
Ty was crawling back and forth over this pillow last night like it was his own little obstacle course and finally just laid down and took a rest. He is a true Petty. He can rest anywhere! We had a fun day yesterday just playing around the house. As you can see he enjoyed his first homemade playhouse (his car seat box). It's amazing how entertaining a box can be. I think I'm gonna keep it for a while! Then last night we played a little game called "Mommy Jack in the Box". He rather enjoyed that and just cackled everytime I popped out. Today we went swimming with our friends Misty and Sara and their children and a few others. It was great. Ty loves the pool. I didn't get any pictures though. Oops. I also attached a picture of Ty and his cousin Malcolm from Sunday. I'm a little behind on my blogging! We are enjoying these fun times with Ty. Brian has been working hard as always this time of year, but he always has fun wrestling and playing with Ty when he gets home. He is such a good daddy! Hope everyone is having a blessed week!

They grow up fast!!!
Well, I am really learning this lesson this week. All in one week Ty started sitting himself up from lying down, started saying "da da", moved to his big boy car seat, cut another tooth, and started crawling! He also zerberted me for the first time tonight, but I don't think there is a spot in the baby book for that one. He is so cute doing all of these things. He actually crawled into the bottom of his exersaucer today and got trapped inside. It was hilarious. I got it on video, but couldn't find the camera until it was too late. I can't believe how quickly he is changing. Last night we had a relaxing night at home. Tonight we spent time with Jenny, Duane, Noah, and Micah at Mom and Dad's house without Mom and Dad(they are in Hawaii). We had a great time. Ty enjoyed playing with his cousins. I attached some pictures, as you can see. Tomorrow he will get to see his cousin Malcolm, so he is on a roll this weekend. I feel at a loss for more words (strange, I know), but I wanted to share an exerpt from a C.S. Lewis book that is quoted in my Captivating Book:
"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it careful round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in the casket-safe, dark, motionless, airless-it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable...The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers...of love is Hell."
Love you all!!!

Caught Red Handed!!!
Sure, it started out with him innocently catching up on the latest issue of babytalk magazine, but Mommy goes into the kitchen for a few minutes and he goes on a rampage. I've decided I've got a bit of a rebel on my hands. He likes rap music. On Sunday nights 107.5 has "back in the day Sunday" where they play all the popular songs from when we were in high school. If we are in the car on Sunday night Brian and I like to listen to it. It's nostalgic I guess. We were on our way back from Kingston Springs. Ty had been crying, so I got in the back with him. Well the song "Come on Ride the Train" came on, taking me back to every school dance I ever attended. So I'm singing along and get to "Right about now it's about that time for me to holla, cause I wanna wolla in the back of my impala, whew!" My formerly fussy child dies laughing. So I did it again (stop judging me), and he laughed and laughed. Don't worry I sang him to sleep with praise songs to detox him!
He is really a lot of fun right now. He is trying so hard to crawl and really is a little bit, but he hasn't just taken off yet. He is also cutting a tooth right now and isn't very happy about it. So now you are updated on the wonderful world of Ty. Things are pretty normal for mommy and daddy. On Sunday we celebrated mom and dad's 30th anniversary. That was fun, but I didn't take any pictures. Tomorrow they leave for Hawaii. I'm not jealous, really. They deserve it for 30 years of love! Well, I'm signing off. Good night everyone!

Quick Thought
I have been reading a book called Captivating that my dear sister gave me for Christmas. It is a must read for women or men who want to understand us better! I just wanted to share this excerpt that really made me think today. The excerpt here is actually one the Eldridges quoted from The Sacred Journey.
"To do for yourself the best that you have in you to do - to grit your teeth and clench your fists in order to survive the world at its harshest and worst - is, by that very act, to be unable to let something be done for you and in you that is more wonderful still. The trouble with steeling yourself against the harshness of reality is that the same steel that secures your life against being destroyed secures your life also against being opened up and transformed."
Good night!

Family Fun!
We had a great weekend. Friday night we went to see Kendria and Bryce's (Brian's sister and brother-in-law) new house. It is very beautiful. While we were there Karen and Shawn(Another sister and bro-in-law) came over and we all hung out. Yes, we missed you Edgeworths! One of the pictures is of Ty and his cousin Malcolm with their aunt Karen who will be providing the next cousin! We had a good time, Ty and Malcolm enjoyed staring at each other and slapping at each other.
On Saturday afternoon we ended up going out with mom and dad. Ty took his maiden voyage(mine too incidentally) to the Farmer's Market. That's right. I felt like I had stepped back into Mexico. It was great. Then we went over to the Bicentennial mall. We then drove around and ended up eating dinner at the Loveless Cafe. We felt like true tourists in our own city. It's amazing how you overlook the fun things in your own city. We live a couple of miles from the Bicentennial Mall and haven't been there in a couple of years. Needless to say we had fun and enjoyed a delicious, free (thanks mom and dad) dinner.
This morning we had yet another wonderful service at Harpeth Hills and our class was especially inspiring as we talked about the importance and strength of God's word. Now I am going to take a nap before Ty wakes up! He is about to start crawling so I figure I better rest up! Have a great week!

Independence Day!!

We had a fun 4th of July. We spent the day with friends swimming, eating, and watching television. We topped off the evening by viewing the fireworks from the roof of Baptist Hospital. It was great! We didn't have to fight the crowd, but we got a pretty good view. Ty loved the fireworks, and he made sure everyone in earshot knew it! I'm attaching some pictures of the day. Hope your 4th was wonderful too!

It's Gettin' Hot in Here!
Well, sorry it has been a few days since my last post. We have been a little out of pocket this weekend. We spent some great time with both of our families celebrating Brian's birthday. I just continue to feel so blessed. As I was spending time with our families I was so overwhelmed with thankfulness that Ty will grow up with not only one but two wonderful Christian families(not that we don't all have our problems, right?!) We've been staying in Kingston Springs the past few nights because our AC is out. A high temperature of 96 degrees takes on a whole new meaning! We are home tonight, and let me just tell you that I have a whole world of respect for everyone who lived before the air conditioner was invented. I am a sissy! Oh well, it is temporary. We should be getting it fixed on Wednesday. Until then Ty will be sleeping in only a diaper and I we won't discuss what the rest of the family will be wearing! I hope everyone has a great 4th. I would add pictures of this weekend, but, being the genious that I am, I proudly arrived in Kingston Springs with my camera and charger (I usually forget one or the other), and much to my demise there was no flash card in the camera. I will attach a recent picture of Ty just for the sake of cuteness. What, I'm not biased?! Until next time!
