This past weekend we went to Dollywood with some of our teens from church. We spent the weekend in a chalet and spent Saturday at the park. Ty was a real trooper. I wasn't sure how he would do, but he did great! The only snag was the ride home, but hey, you can't have it all! He held up better than mommy who got a grand total of 8 1/2 hours of sleep for the entire weekend! I was kind of fussy on the way home too! It was great to get away for the weekend and spend some time with the kids. On the way home we stopped to see the Dixon's. Ty and Micah were creating some beautiful tunes on the piano while Noah played the guitar. Last night Ty got to play with cousin Malcolm while mommy and daddy went to a dinner. He had a lot of fun, but unfortunately I have no pictures. I think aunt Kendria got it on tape though. In other breaking news, as I type Ty is attempting to feed himself watermelon (a previously scorned solid food)! Hooray! Maybe he will eat the strawberries too!

Highchair Therapy and Bathtime Fun!!!
On Friday we officially started "highchair therapy". Ty doesn't seem to want to eat any solid food (table food) even though we have been trying to introduce things for a while. He puts in his mouth, makes the most awful face, and spits it out or he chokes on it. He will eat puffs and wagon wheels (most of them end up soggy on the floor) and that is about it. It is becoming a problem because he wants to feed himself, so he is grabbing and hitting at the spoon when I feed him baby food and it is super frustrating. So I decided that I am going to start making him sit in his high chair for 30 minutes a day with food in front of him and see how much he will eat. At least he can play with it and get used to the idea. Friday went well. He ate some little pieces of bread, but wouldn't touch bananas or pineapple. This is my last ditch effort to retain my sanity during eating time for the next few months! If anyone has any better ideas please share! Friday night we celebrated Nana's birthday (39th of course) and then Ty and Micah got a bath from Grandy. They were so cute in the tub. Micah even tried to rub in Ty's shampoo for him. They are a rowdy crowd, but oh so cute!

I Have Finally Learned How To Do This Thing!
After talking to my mother I found out that in order to comment on my blog you have to be a "Member". Well apparently I set up my blog rather haphazardly and didn't even look at my settings. After about 3 minutes of maintenance now I am on Central time instead of Los Angeles, I have a title section, and ANYONE CAN COMMENT! Hooray! Just thought I would let you know. I wasn't trying to start some secure blogging club. It was just pure ignorance! Till next time!

My Little Bookworm!
A couple of days ago I was going about my business and looked up to find my 9 month old in this position with no coaxing by me believe it or not! I got a kick out of it and thought I would share. I hope this lasts through high school! I won't hold my breath though. He is so funny how he studies everything (especially books). I wish I could get inside that little mind for a little while and see what is going on in there. He is cutting his 4th tooth and is taking it much better than he did #3. We had a great weekend and Monday. We got to spend time with a lot of friends and family this weekend. We went swimming yesterday. Ty loves the pool. Unfortunately he is very afraid of the pool noodle. When he has a bad dream it is probably of a big orange pool noodle coming at him. I'm not sure why this fear, but hopefully he will outgrow it! If not, I'm sure his cousins and friends will have fun tormenting him with it! We must have worn him out because he slept a lot today! Have a great week!

Ty's Little Playhouse
Ty had fun today crawling around the house. He is into everything! He especially likes things he shouldn't be into. I put up a gate between the living room and dining room. Whenever I go in the kitchen to do something he stands with half of his face sticking out over the gate staring at me with those big eyes as if to say "How could you imprison me this way?" Today he once again found his way into the bottom of the exersaucer, and this time I caught it on camera. He even found a cheerio under there from who knows when. Luckily, I caught it before he ingested it. He has been such a pleasure. His ear infections must be clearing up because he seems much happier. It's amazing how you think you couldn't love them any more and then everyday your love grows stronger.

Silent Protest
Today for lunch I was feeding Ty garden vegetables ( a scrumptious blend of peas, carrots, and spinach) and applesauce. I always try to get him to finish the vegetables first. I had given him several bites of vegetables in a row. So in silent protest he stuck out his tongue and refused to put it back in his mouth until I gave him some applesauce. Once I touched the applesauce to his tongue he gladly retrieved it. Am I gonna have my hands full or what!
In other news, today was Ty's nine month physical. He is growing well and looks good with the exception of his double ear infection(again). He is now only in the 51st percentile for weight, the 21st percentile for height(shocker), and hanging strong in the 74th percentile for head circumfrence! No wonder I can't get his clothes over his head! Dispite his large noggin and short stature he is so extremely cute! At least that is my unbiased opinion. Tomorrow we are going to take pictures. That should be fun. He is pulling up on everything he can find now (and often falling eventually), so he got a nice little bruise on his forehead today just in time for pictures. Oh well, adds character. Good night!
